This course surveys the religious, political, archaeological. and cultural history of Jerusalem over three millennia as a symbolic focus of three faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Students will gain an understanding of the present-day conflict between Israel and Palestine, including relevant diplomatic texts, and will analyze the points of contention and possible solutions in the conflict.
