Advanced Topics in Civil Engineering; Discrete Choice Analysis
Credits: 3
Grad Meth: Reg, Aud
The course presents the fundamentals of the random utility theory and the derivation of discrete choice models. The methods presented rely on econometric modeling approaches; in particular formulation, estimation and application of models of choice behavior will be presented. The instructor will propose several interactive lab sessions, where students will work with real data on (transportation) case studies. The discipline is highly multi-disciplinary, applications of discrete choice models can be found in marketing, energy studies, economics, geography, social and political science.
