How does the expansion of global capitalism impact environmental crises in Latin America? How have Latin American artists and activists re-imagined our relationship to the natural world? How local grass-roots organizations in Latin America and international NGO's fight for environmental justice? This course draws on a diverse range of cultural production including, theroy, documentaries, film, and fiction to respond to these questions. Students will also engage directly with international environmental organizations in the DC area and Latin American grass-roots leadership.
