Topics include the identification of funding sources, description of grant application procedures and components, development of budgets, and post-award topics. Major components of the course include preparing a small grant application, outlining a federal grant application, and participating in the peer-review process. This course focuses on federal agencies, foundations, and doctoral-level mechanisms, and will cover the mechanics of proposal writing, the political and social aspects of the application and peer-review process, and tailoring proposals to specific audience and agency interests.
