Restricted to first semester first year students in the College of Arts and Humanities.

How has the ancient Japanese haiku form adapted to the modern world? In this course, we will consider the history of haiku and explore how haiku has been used to address such issues as poverty, racism, sexism, climate change, and war. Students will also write their own haiku on the social issues that concern them.
