Prerequisite: MATH246 and BIOE371; or Permission of the Fischell Department of Bioengineering.
Provides a quantitative understanding of the science behind current technologies in the biotechnology and biotherapeuticsindustries. It provides the molecular basis for their function as well as their manufacture. The new RNA modalities for vaccine therapies, the efficacy of monoclonal antibody therapeutics, the molecular signaling dialogue that guides microbial consortia are among the topics that rely on fundamental chemical biology principles that can be mathematically characterized enabling quantitative insight.
