This course introduces graduate students in public health and communication to health literacy research and evaluation methods. Students will learn health literacy methods that can be used at the individual, organizational, community, and population levels, and how to apply them to evaluate and design health information/content, including text, graphics, and numbers. Students will examine and critique how these methods have been applied; identify methodological gaps and opportunities for adapted or new methods. Students will participate in methods applications, create several health materials, and write short methods papers to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
