Introduces students to core research domains in health care management, including leadership; teams & teamwork; organizational change management & innovation; and quality improvement & patient safety; among others. The course will cover both foundational and recent literature, to prepare students to contribute to health care management research in their thesis or dissertation. Students will learn about the role of leaders in health care organizations, the clinical and operational teams they lead, the strategic goals these teams pursue, and the processes, technology, & innovation used to attain these goals. Students will develop skills in organizing peer-reviewed research in ways that facilitate the identification of important knowledge gaps. Students will produce a unique, defensible "map" of recent health care management literature and develop well-motivated research questions that address knowledge gaps and apply popular theoretical frameworks.
