Accelerated Introduction to STEM Teaching

Additional information: For the lab component of this course, students must reserve a three-hour window in their schedules between the hours of 8am-3pm, to be utilized approximately 10 weeks in the semester. This lab will be a combination of collaborative group work and a fieldwork component in a local partner school, which requires fingerprinting and a background check (facilitated by Terrapin Teachers).
Students can expect a highly collaborative, discussion-based exploration of STEM teaching and learning, classroom complexity, and social justice. Fieldwork includes four visits to a local middle school classroom to observe, facilitate discussions, and lead STEM lessons. This course is designed for students pursuing or seriously considering the middle or secondary STEM certification pathways.
