This course examines the rhetorical dimensions of bodies and the embodied dimensions of rhetoric. In exploring the relationship between the body and rhetoric, this course will focus especially on the ways that bodies communicate rhetorical messages, the impact of intersecting dynamics of identity and power (especially race, gender, sexuality, ability, and body size) on bodies within a given culture, the ways in which particular bodies are categorized into frameworks of good/bad, right/wrong, and normal/abnormal.
