This seminar offers an exploration of the complex relationship between rhetoric, history, and memory. Students will learn about theories and methods for gathering, analyzing, and writing about historical and commemorative artifacts, including close textual analysis, archival research, and rhetorical fieldwork. This seminar will benefit students eager to conduct historical research as well as those seeking to better understand the historical contexts underpinning contemporary communication phenomena.
