Topics in Syntax; The grammar of comparison

Prerequisite:LING311 Examines the relation between syntax and semantics through a detailed look at comparatives (e.g., Mal is taller than Val'). Diagnosing abstract syntax. Relations between wh-movement, coordination and ellipsis in comparatives cross-linguistically. Psycholinguistic and philosophical issues will also be discussed.
