Special Topics in Persian Studies; Language Ideologies and Linguistic Diversity in Iran

Delves into the role of language in contemporary Iranian society and explores socially significant topics such as standard language ideology,language attitudes, minority language rights, and language and social identity in multilingual Iran primarily through the scholarly lens of sociolinguistics. While the course is primarily taught in English, it requires two years of formal Persian language study or equivalent proficiency.
