PHIL209F
Philosophical Issues; Fairness
Credits: 3
Grad Meth: Reg, P-F, Aud
Discussions about fairness have long been central to game theory, social choice theory, political philosophy, and ethics. These fields examine equitable resource distribution, just decision-making, and conflict resolution that respects everyone s rights and interests. The rise of AI---especially machine learning---extends these concerns to algorithms that may amplify existing biases. This course investigates how fairness shapes individual and collective choices and how it is incorporated into both human and automated decision-making systems.
