In this course, we will be reading Martin Heidegger's Being and Time, along with some other essays of his. The focus of the class will be Heidegger's concept of ontology and his critique of other views. We willlook at his views of the self and of being with others and what roletemporal concepts play in understanding the different aspects of existence. We will also discuss his concepts of truth and language. Some familiarity with the history of philosophy would be useful.
