Additional information: CMSC majors will not receive credit for this course towards their upper level concentration in their CMSC major. All BMGT majors, including students who are a double major in CMSC, must complete BMGT301 for their BMGT degree.
Provides a comprehensive overview of information systems (IS) and their strategic and tactical roles in the digital transformation of businesses across public and private sectors. Students learn core concepts for analyzing and designing IS for business applications. Topics include data management, databases, data warehousing, data analysis, and data mining, along with the fundamentals and business impact of artificial intelligence (AI). The course also introduces modern IS infrastructure, including cloud computing, IS security, and practical use of application software, such as spreadsheets and data visualization software, for data analysis and visualization.
