This course examines how masculinity is shaped by both society and personal experience. Through dialogue, we will explore different understandings of what it means to be a man and consider how ideas of masculinity influence relationships, choices, and communities. Working with classmates from diverse backgrounds, you ll reflect on your own experiences, engage with multiple perspectives, and strengthen your skills in listening, questioning, and learning across differences.

Encouraged for students in Arts, but open to ALL Scholars students. Why do we like what we like? And who decides what counts as great art? This course explores how identity, culture, and power shape our tastes in visual and performing arts, and explores the blurred lines between cultural appreciation and appropriation. Through dialogue, you ll see how art can challenge and reinforce whose stories and perspectives are valued, while building skills for listening, questioning, and learning across differences.
