This course examines strategies for teaching and learning in K-12 and higher education classrooms using global, African knowledge systems. Using projected based learning, students will collaborate virtually withstudents from University of Cape Coast in Ghana to assess the natureof education and its implications on curricula, policy, and practice using decolonial and African indigenous knowledge (AIK) systemsto explore a variety of dimensions, and conversely, how AIK systems shape education outcomes globally. Students will also engage with experts fromaround the world. This is a Global Classrooms course, developed in partnership withthe Global Learning Initiatives in the Office of International Affairs.
