The class will be held in the Iribe Drone Lab.
This graduate-level hands-on course focuses on using AI algorithm development and testing for autonomous drone racing. The racing drone is a custom-built drone that is fully NDAA compliant. Students will learn to assemble and connect a racing drone, manually and autonomously fly the drone, as well as run simulations. Several classical as well as AI methods will be introduced as well as implemented in simulation. Student teams of 4-5 students will then utilize an AI algorithm on their own racing drone and navigate it through a series of gates, culminating in a final competition at the end of the semester.
