This course offers an in-depth exploration of mixed-signal VLSI design, emphasizing both theoretical understanding and practical implementation. Students will work toward a tapeout-ready design using a foundry-provided process design kit (PDK). Integrating concepts from semiconductor devices, and analog and digital circuit theory, the course guides students through proposing, designing, simulating, and laying out a mixed-mode integrated circuit. Emphasis is placed on the analysis and design of complex CMOS circuits such as Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog Converters. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard EDA tools for simulation and layout, applying advanced techniques to minimize mismatch and variation in analog circuit design.
