Why are wars, crises, and human catastrophes a regular feature of the global landscape? What can we as individuals, communities, states and societies do to make a difference? This course introduces students to core theories, concepts, and debates within global and foreign policy, and the approaches used to analyze these issues. Equal emphasis is placed onboth the causes of policy issues and the policymaking challenges of operating within a fragmented international system. The course will include an introduction to themes such as security, conflictand diplomacy; human security and migration; as well as development and sustainability. This course will count in the new Globaland Foreign Policy Major.
