An introduction to fundamental and leading-edge management theories and practices, and provides opportunities to develop and apply essential skills that professionals need to participate in, manage, or lead information projects, programs, and services in modern organizations, communities, and society. Specific topics explored in this course pertain to management environments (e.g., organizational culture, professional ethics, and social responsibility) and core management functions such as planning (e.g., mission and vision, goal setting, strategy, and decision making), organizing (e.g., organizational design, innovation and change management, and human resource management), leading (e.g., leadership and motivation), and controlling (e.g., quality control, budgeting, performance evaluation).
