Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.

The course is a data-driven investigative project centering on the deaths at the state-run Cheltenham Boys Reformatory School, where some 230 boys died between 1880-1939. We will also explore the deaths of some 30 other young boys at the Maryland Correctional Institute at Jessup and possibly at other locations. We will be doing a data analysis of the death certificates, examining archival records and grand jury reports.
