This course examines how national identity is constructed at the individual level, how this process can sow division, and how it can drive violent conflict. Focusing on spatial interaction with place, it explores geospatial factors, such as political memory, territorial boundaries, and environmental symbolism, that shape individual and collective political action related to regional and national identity.
