This course provides a design-oriented introduction to standard practices deployed by the medical robotics industry, an emerging and oneof the fastest growing fields of robotics and more broadly, the medical device industry. These robotic devices are dedicated to improving the lives of people living with or recovering from injuries, illnesses, and disabilities. The course is designed for graduate students wishing to learn and acquire theoretical as well as practical knowledge skills in industry practices for medical robotics. In contrastwith other sub- specialties and/or courses in robotics, this course covers not only engineering design and development (D&D) but also usability engineering and risk management.
