This course provides current information about: the ecology and community dynamics of arthropod populations in managed urban / ornamental environments, the principles and implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs towards the development of sustainable pest management programs, diagnostics of causal agents of plant damage, and the identification, life history, and management of key insect and mite pests of ornamental plants. The emphasis is on pests of woody ornamentals that occur in urban landscapes, nurseries, arboretums, parks, and Christmas tree farms, while pests of herbaceous and tropical plants may also be discussed.
