Through a focus on the history of agrochemicals-fertilizers and pesticides-this course traces the development of industrial agriculture and its impact from 1863 to the present. Through influential case studies in "pest control" such as, arsenic and cotton,fumigants and fruit trees,and locusts epidemics, this course combineshistories of race,abolition, plants, technology, and empire.
