The course will provide an overview of theoretical and empirical literature on how societies and individuals are impacted by violent events and contextual shocks, such as war, terrorism, interpersonal violence, extreme weather events, and public health crises. Students will choose to either lead or participate in the development of an empirical research paper, for which they will be required to conduct statistical data analysis with specialized software. The course is appropriate for driven and highly motivated students looking for an intensive quantitative research training experience.
