Examines 19th-century Spanish normative notions regarding gender expression and identities as well as men's and women's sexualities in the Realist and Naturalist novel. Also, we will discuss representations of men and women whose behavior ran afoul of a heteronormative system that valued domestic privacy as a space of honor and virtuous masculinity and femininity.
