This course will introduce students to core tenets and techniques for designing effective, engaging, and equitable educational technologies. Acentral component of this course will be designing, building, and critiquing educational technologies. The course will introduce students to foundational theories on the design of effective learning technologies while also developing their conceptual toolkit for critically evaluatingeducational tools and technologies. This course will be of interest to students interested in design, technology, and learning, drawing on theories and practices from the learning sciences, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, and constructionist design. No prior programming or design experience is necessary.
