Special emphasis will be placed on the birds of the mid-Atlantic region. Through lectures and in-class discussions, students will examine the diversity and adaptations of birds. A required visit to the Smithsonian s ornithological collections on January 13th, will give students an opportunity to see how museum specimens support research and the study of avian diversity.
