Writing Flash Fiction. Around a thousand words, flash fiction is short but impactful. Over the course of the semester, we ll explore flash fiction as a brief but expansive moment in time. By recording weekly observations of our daily lives and writing into different senses, we will consider what a single snapshot or scene can do. When writing in shorterforms, what difference do small details make? How do we decide what to include versus what to omit? And, most significantly, how can webring our daily observations of life into our writing to build out sensory detailsand tangible scenes? Keeping these questions in mind, students will write and workshop several flash fiction pieces.
