With its title borrowed from Dipesh Chakrabarty's classic postcolonial critique of history, this seminar examines critical approaches to historical thought in contemporary art from the postcolonial world and Global South, as well as indigenous communities across the world. Topicsof study include archival, parahistorical, pluriversal, and forensic approaches to history and memory and artworks built upon those currents of thought.
