A highly physical approach to acting, based in the vocabulary of Anne Bogart's Viewpoints methodology. Students will explore the possibilities of using their physical instrument (the body) to its fullest on stage, so that they can avoid the pitfalls of "neck up" acting, find comfort in their bodies on stage, and express psychological choices from head to toe. The Viewpoints give an actor agency to be an active contributing artist in the rehearsal room, allow a director to create powerful stage pictures, and help to build strong ensembles. Collaborative class projects will range from realism to the abstract, and will include scene work, monologues and original devised performances.
