In this course, we will explore how historically and currently drag and burlesque construct and reconstruct gendered, sexualized, and racialized bodies. We will interrogate ways that the art forms both subverts and re-establishes prevailing bodily norms. We will also grapple with the complex relationship between the art forms and "feminist" practices thinking about if, when, where, and how "power" can be exercised through performance.
